Speaking out against bigotry for being different.
This is the third year I’ve participated in this blog hop and I will continue to do so. I continue to help one person, one blog, one post at a time. We’ve had the transgender issues with the public restrooms floating around social media. We have others post videos, memes, and other types in support. We need to continue to support everyone in the LGTBQ arena because we are all different and we should be celebrating diversity regardless of who you love, what religion, or who you want to be.
That would kind of boring to be just like everyone else.
It makes me smile when my teens talk openly about sex, gender roles, and their confidence in their own identities.
And that inspires me to write something that I haven’t done in awhile. To that, I’ve created this poem.
Teach the young so they may know nothing else.
Help your elders to see change.
Understand someone’s beliefs and identities.
Be yourself as much as you are able.
Fly in the face of the societal norms
Love yourself and love others.
In the end we are all the same.

Great poem! Thank you for the post. I don’t have any creative things I’ve done. Mostly I try to influence via example and how I interact with people. For example, if a work conversation starts getting negative about some one who is different, I try to counter that with positives and inclusiveness.

I haven’t done anything creative, I try to stay informed since equality must be for all.
Thank you for the poem. I don’t think I’ve done anything creative to get a positive message out. I do try to keep an open mind and I like to think I’m influencing those around me to do the same.

Thank you for the beautiful poem. I do not have really creative ways to spread the visibility. I’m not a very creative person. But I do work with teenagers and try to answer their questions as openly and truly, working to help them accept all sorts of people regardless of their religion, race, sexuality or any other characteristic.

Thanks for the great post! I try to influence people with whom I interact, specifically people I am friends with. There are no LGBT organizations or such where I live, so…

Through recommending some good LGBT books and movies to my friends and the people I know…after all, that’s how I changed my opinion long time ago.
It is extremely important for us to talk about all the people under the umbrella, especially in the light of the recent events, so thanks for talking participation in this blog hop!
Wonderful poem, beautiful. 🙂 As for what creative ways, I show my support on my blog and have participated in this hop for 3 years now as well. I also participated last semester in a class forum for a humanities class where the 5 speakers, myself included, all identified as part of the LGBT spectrum. So we had 2 hours where we took questions from an auditorium of students, and I had quite a few stop me after the class to thank me for sharing, since most of them had never heard of asexuality before then and were glad that I was brave enough to share in public like that.
